This is an app I have been using for quite some time now and I love it! Here’s a link to the website: https://www.duolingo.com/ and they have apps for everything!
I love it because it is a mix of different learning tools for language acquisition. They have mostly Romance languages for now but it looks like they are trying to eventually add more variety. I especially like that it gets you to translate to and from your chosen language, speak into your microphone, word recognition, and some more.
I personally have used it to practice German because if you don’t use it, you lose it. I have also tried to learn Italian, and practice my poor French and Spanish. Sometimes, the sentences you are making are a little strange and you probably won’t use it later but it also gets you to play with the language a bit. I also enjoy that, for the most part, it recognizes varieties of ways to spell or write things in the languages.
You can share progress with friends or teachers through email or by adding friends. And who doesn’t like sharing?
A few other people in my cohort are also using this app now and it’s great to see how everyone is progressing.
